Fellow treasure hunters, let’s set sail on an adventure into the world of integration architecture with the new feature of Event Relays. Event Relays send events (platform events and change data capture events) from Salesforce to Amazon Web Services (AWS). There’s no code or middleware needed. This is a bi-directional service between AWS and Salesforce. Event Relay sends events to Amazon EventBridge and, using an API Destination in EventBridge on AWS, developers can send events back to Salesforce.
Developers now have a secret passage to even greater treasure, the power of event-driven on-demand interactions with apps in AWS or services like Lambda. And, new with Summer 23 and Winter 24 Release, you can create Event Relays on a HyperForce Org.
With Event Relays developers can also:
- Send events to third-party and SaaS integrations
- Send events from Salesforce to Amazon EventBridge in AWS, and send events back to Salesforce using EventBridge API
- Process events sent back from Amazon EventBridge
Cost
There’s no additional up front cost to begin using Event Relay.
Skull and Crossbones: Feature Warnings ☠️
Events delivered to Amazon EventBridge count against an org’s platform event allocations If you have no add-on licenses, the default allocations apply for event publishing and delivery. These allocations can’t be exceeded within a 24 hour period.
However, the allocations can be increased by purchasing more platform event add-ons. Events such as Apex triggers, flows and Process Builder processes do not count against the allocation.
So if your org is integrating with AWS and you need real-time responses, unlock the hidden treasures of the Event Relay in Salesforce and let the adventure begin!
