What is Hyperforce?
Hyperforce is the Salesforce Infrastructure built on code not hardware so it can be implemented quickly without the dependency of hardware. It’s designed to work on public clouds rather than first party data centers that are run by Salesforce. Its primarily about where the data from your org will be stored.
Increasing data residency requirements in places like China, Russia, EU, and even specific US states like California are forcing companies to be more aware of where data is stored. Hyperforce allows for companies that need to have separation of data/privacy in particular countries but still maintain the same architecture of other Salesforce instances. It’s a treasure map for companies seeking the holy grail of data separation.
Key Points of Hyperforce
- Data Residency – Hyperforce lets customers serve their employees and customers globally while providing choice and control for residency and compliance.
- Scalability – Customers will be able to grow and scale their business more flexibly and sustainably.
- Security – Hyperforce is secure by default, with least-privileged control, zero-trust principles, and encryption of customer data at-rest and in-transit.
- Privacy – Hyperforce provides comprehensive privacy standards that help give customers control and transparency over their customers’ data.
Hyperforce is currently available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, the UK, and the US for products built on the Salesforce platform : Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and Industries Cloud. And just when you thought the map was complete, the Winter ‘24 release brought us news that Hyperforce is expanding its horizons to Indonesia and Italy too.
Cost
There’s no additional cost associated with residing on the Hyperforce and any org can be moved to Hyperforce for the countries where Hyperforce is available.
Trial Org
Trial orgs are available for Hyperforce which can be obtained through the Salesforce Account team.
Data Privacy – Local Residency
The Hyperforce org knows how to keep its secrets close, just like a treasure chest locked away in a pirate’s cave. The customer data for the Hyperforce org will be stored in the same country as the org, which provides a solution for companies that work across multiple countries and particularly those countries/states that have data privacy and data sharing laws.
Skull and Crossbones: Feature Warnings ☠️
Some non-customer data ( controller data from Salesforce ) could leave the country that the Hyperforce org is located .Also some Salesforce Services are interconnected in order to provide more features to Customers so there is a possibility of some data being processed through another country integrations to services not yet on Hyperforce could also be in different countries.
There may also need to be changes to endpoints to make sure that integrations, Single Sign On (SSO), OAuth or other authentication services still work as before.
Also of note for developers / designers, Hyperforce generates file previews as JPGs, not SVGs, regardless of the account preference settings. SVGs that were generated for previously uploaded files will remain accessible, but newly uploaded files will generate JPG previews.
Some community members have mentioned having to republish LWC ( Lightning Web Components ) Experience Cloud pages several times after moving to Hyperforce so be aware if you have an Experience Cloud site.
